Film industry calls for loan reforms amid insurance hurdles

The government allocated Nu 200 million to the film and creative industries as part of its Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP), allowing filmmakers to apply for interest-free loans. However, banks have recently mandated film insurance as a requirement for these loans. This has raised concerns among filmmakers, as no insurance schemes for films or content creation currently exist in Bhutan.
